Access to Work is based on a number of principles which are designed to ensure that it is fair and effective.
The scheme should
- meet your basic needs to overcome disability-related barriers as quickly as possible
- give temporary support where long-term support can’t be quickly arranged
- not cut corners but find cost-effective ways to meet your needs (this means that as many people as possible can be helped)
- find solutions that genuinely overcome barriers and are acceptable to the employer and employee
- make sure that communication is clear and open
