Bursaries, scholarships and charitable support for arts trainingIf you have problems finding the money to pay for a course there are other places you could try for help. Firstly, check out the college or university to wish to attend. Most have their own bursary schemes so find out what they offer. Skill has an information booklet on Funding from Charitable Trusts, which includes information on how to apply and lists numerous trusts that help disabled students. You can get to the information sheet by following this link. This will take you out of the artist’s resource site and straight to the Skill site and their list of information sheets (www.skill.org.uk/info/infosheets.asp) You can also send an SAE (an envelope, with your address on it and a stamp) to the Educational Grants Advisory Service so they can send you a list of trusts that make grants towards study costs. Educational Grants Advisory Service There is also a website called Scholarship search. You put in your information about what you want to study, at what level and why you need support and it checks what scholarships, grants and bursaries are available and gives you information on how to apply. This will take you out of the artist’s resource site and straight to the Scholarship Search site. (www.scholarship-search.org.uk)
