Applying for short coursesEvery short course will have a different way to apply. Some courses will need to you to have particular skills and experience, others will be open to all. Sometimes you may need to fill in an application form, other times you may just contact them to book a place. Since the Disability Discrimination Act was passed, anyone running a course has to think about access for Deaf and disabled people. If you want to find out more about the Disability Discrimination Act, check out this section of this site. This means they should let you apply in a format to suit you and ask you about your access needs. You need to tell them what you need as you may know about access solutions they don’t know about. Depending on their budgets, they may not be able to meet all your needs, but the earlier you talk to them about what you need, the more chance there is of getting support. Remember, if you get Access to Work support, you can use some of this to pay for access to training related to your work. If you want to find out more about Access to Work, check out this section of this site or go to the Shape Access to Work site. This will take you out of the artist’s resource site and straight to the Access to Work site.
