Artist's Resource Pack

If you are working for a company, you will usually be given a contract, a handbook or a file of information which sets out what you are expected to do, how much you get paid and what the systems and set up at your new place of employment might be.

At the very least, if you have worked for an organisation for two weeks, you are legally entitled to a written statement of employment. This does not need to be long and complex, but must include:

• Your personal details (name, address, telephone/contact numbers)
• Your job title
• Place of work
• Pay details
• Work times and breaks
• Information about holiday entitlement
• Information about what you should do if you are sick or absent, and what the company’s policy is in relation to these
• Information about confidentiality, to protect intellectual property

If you need access support at work because of your impairment/s, ask the company to contact Access to Work as soon as possible as new employees are able to get all of their approved access costs met if they register within the first six weeks of starting work.
